Sliding on an icy road in Ramsey is not something that you want to experience. However, it can be relatively easy to stop a slide once it is has started. It is critical that you don't use your brakes to slow the car down as you will further lose control of your vehicle.

Instead, you want the front wheels to face the same direction as the back wheels. This is known as steering into the slide. Therefore, if your back tires are pointing left, you will want to steer your car or truck to the left. Once the front and back tires are facing the same direction, you can straighten out the vehicle and continue driving normally.

To prevent a slide, be sure to drive at a speed appropriate for the current road conditions. In some cases, this may mean driving slower than the posted speed limit.
